Thank you

I started 2011 a little after midnight…I was woken up by people shooting off fireworks outside my apartment in South Kansas City. I will probably end 2011 watching the Times Square ball drop with Michelle at our home in Olathe.

2011 was a year of great progress for me…and a great deal of change occurred along the way. I learned to be alone for the first time in many years…I went to new places…I met a lot of great people…and I found love…and became a parent too!

So here I sit in my kitchen on the cusp of 2012, wondering what it will bring…and I’m a little scared. I just lost my job 2 weeks ago, though I bounced back quickly by becoming a contractor for my former employer…and officially struck out on my own after basically being self-employed off and on for the past 6 years. Though I would still like to find a job with another company, forming my own company gives me something to work on and build up for the future…and maybe it will be as big as Citigroup or ExxonMobil someday! No, I haven’t started drinking yet today…

I thank all of you…for your friendship…for your love and support…for your tolerance and understanding…as I have meandered my way through life during 2011. And here’s to a great 2012 for all of us! Baseball bats and middle fingers at the ready…as always…
